Bi-Fold Doors, Why they’re Gaining Popularity
In recent years the popularity of Bi-Fold doors is becoming more and more apparent. The team here at Salop Glass are installing more than ever. So what are Bi-Fold doors, and why are they becoming more popular?
What Are Bi-Fold Doors?
Have you seen those homes on TV, usually stunning, expensive-looking homes, where they have a whole wall of windows that open out onto a stylish patio in the sun. That wall of opening windows can be created in your very own home with bi-fold doors. While we can’t help you with the stylish patio or the sun (we are in the UK after all) we can help you achieve those bi-fold doors at a reasonable price.
How Do Bi-Fold Doors Work?
Standard patio doors often only take up a small amount of the wall, whereas bi-fold doors can be extended to fill the entire wall. This will usually mean that an amount of building work to install a supporting beam over where your doors will be.
Your new doors can then become your whole wall. You can opt to pull back all the doors to create a big open area between the great outdoors and your indoor space. Or you can open a small section and use it as a standard patio door, with windows on either side.
Why Are They Gaining Popularity?
There are a number of reasons as to why bi-fold doors could be gaining in popularity. When we have asked our customers why they have chosen to make the shift to this style of doors, we have been given two main reasons:
Increased Sunlight – Bi-fold doors can help to turn one of your walls into one big window, and when open, one giant door to the great outdoors. With this comes the increase in the amount of sunlight that can flood your home. Particularly if the light was previously obstructed by walls.
Ability To Open Up The Space – Whether you have a growing family, a few pets, or just love the great outdoors, bi-fold doors allow you to open up the space, and overall, increase your used space, particularly in the summer.
